ParrisprofilePic_grandeParris’ work is informed by his childhood home, where replicas of classical sculpture stood in strange contrast to amateur cubist paintings. In his early teens, he found his fathers paint set and attempted to make figures that fused the two sensibilities. He went to the University of Bridgeport’s small cinema program in Connecticut and applied the same split mind to his student films.

After graduating film school and finding work in music videos, Parris returned to making art between jobs. He began testing unconventional materials and approaches, which led him to freeze an antique piano into a thirteen ton block of ice.

Currently Parris lives and works in Los Angeles and is creating a multi-media solo show based on his novella,“Spazo The Great.”
